Privacy & consent
Your data, in plain words
Nivantro is a rental trust platform. We only record what we need to show fair trust ratings based on confirmed tenancies, and only with your consent. This notice follows the spirit of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Consent version 2026-09-v1.
What we ask you to agree to
- I agree that Nivantro may record my personal details (name, email, mobile, photo, education, work history, LinkedIn, and the masked ID details I choose to add).
- I agree that Nivantro may record the property and tenancy details I add or confirm (addresses, dates, rent, rental agreements, and the other party's contact details I provide).
- I agree that these details, reviews, and rent/maintenance records may be used to calculate trust ratings for me, the properties, and the other party, as explained in How scores work.
Each box starts unticked. We don't bundle unrelated purposes.
What we record, and why
- Account: name, email, password (hashed). To let you sign in.
- Profile (optional): photo, mobile, education, work history, LinkedIn. To help the other party know who they're dealing with.
- ID details (optional): Aadhaar: only the last 4 digits. PAN: only a masked form (e.g. XXXXXX234F). These ID fields never keep the full number. Public passports only say “ID added”. Note: rental agreements you upload are stored as the file you gave us and may contain full ID numbers, addresses and signatures.
- Properties & tenancies: full address and locality, rent, dates, rental agreements, and the other party's email/mobile you give us. To confirm tenancies with both sides. If they decline, or don't confirm within 30 days, we delete that email/mobile from the request. We never text them; you share the link yourself.
- Reviews, rent & maintenance records: to calculate trust ratings. See How scores work.
Rent payments
Rent is paid directly between tenant and owner, outside Nivantro (UPI, bank transfer, cash, cheque or another way you agree). Nivantro does not process, collect or hold rent money, and no payment passes through us.
We only keep the record you enter: the month, amount, how it was paid, the paid-on date, an optional reference (such as a UTR or cheque number) and note, and who recorded or confirmed it and when. Both the tenant and the owner on that tenancy can see it. It is used for your rent ledger, receipts and the capped rent adjustment in ratings.
If an owner adds a UPI ID in payment settings, it is shown as text only to their own tenants so they can pay directly. You can remove it at any time.
How your data feeds ratings
Scores (1.0–5.0) come from reviews between people with a confirmed tenancy, plus capped rent and maintenance adjustments. Profile details and ID status are shown as context only. They never change the number. Reviewers stay anonymous on public cards. Reviewers upload their rental agreement, but Nivantro does not verify it; cards say “Agreement uploaded”.
Who can see what
- Public (only while you consent): your name, score, anonymous reviews, and profile signals like “Photo added” or “ID added”. For listed homes: title, photos, rent and the locality and city only.
- Full street address: only the owner, tenants with a confirmed tenancy, and the person asked to approve a home on its confirmation page.
- Tenant passports never list the homes you rented; at most a count of confirmed tenancies.
- Only you: your mobile, masked ID details, full profile, and your profile photo. Passports only say “Photo added”.
- The other party in a tenancy: the property, dates, and agreement you both confirmed. Rental agreements open only for the tenant, the owner and Nivantro admins, after signing in.
- Homes awaiting approval: details and photos are visible only to the person who added the home and the owner it was sent to.
- Files are served through signed-in checks, never as public links.
- We don't sell personal data. Service providers (hosting, database, file storage) process it on our behalf.
Your rights
- Access: see everything on your profile, or email us for a copy.
- Correct: edit or delete profile fields yourself at any time.
- Withdraw: withdraw consent from this page or your profile. Straight away your public tenant and owner passports show “not available”, your share image is hidden, you are removed from city pages and from owner details on listings, and homes you own are taken off public listings. Reviews you wrote stay only as anonymous star ratings (their text is hidden) and keep counting in the reviewed person's or home's score. We stop using your details for new ratings and ask again before any further use. Give consent again and all of it comes back. Withdrawing doesn't undo processing already done lawfully.
- Erase: delete your account and data yourself, below or on your profile. See exactly what is removed and what is kept.
- Grievance: write to us and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Deleting your account
Removed right away: your name, email, mobile, photo, masked ID details, education, work, LinkedIn and the UPI ID you shared with your tenants; your profile photo and the photos you uploaded (including the stored files); rental agreements you uploaded, and those on tenancies where you were the tenant; your messages, notifications, saved homes and interests; reviews written about you and your passport. Your consent is withdrawn and you are signed out on every device.
Kept, without your name:
- The star rating (1–5) and date of reviews you wrote about homes or people. Their text and your agreement are deleted. Other people's scores are built from these ratings, and removing them would quietly change those scores.
- Tenancy, rent and maintenance records on homes you rented or owned, shown against “Deleted user”, because they are also the other party's records. If you own homes, they stay listed for their tenants and show that the owner deleted their account.
- A deletion log entry: a one-way hash of your account id and the time. This lets us show that we honoured the request (DPDP accountability). It contains no personal data.
- Your consent history: dates and versions only, with no personal details.
